The Newburgh Symphony’s January Family Concert Celebrates the Music of Disney!

When you wish upon a star for the perfect outing on a cold winter’s afternoon, you’ll find the Greater Newburgh Symphony Orchestra’s “The Magical Music of Disney” will delight the entire family.

“Yes, we will be playing music from ‘Frozen!’” said Gordon Shacklett, cellist with the GNSO, “as well a many other favorite Disney movies, but what will make this performance even more magical will be the visual effects that coordinate with the music.”

This specially programmed concert brings the sight and sound of classics including “The Lion King,” “Mary Poppins,” “Hercules,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “Aladdin,” “Mulan,” and “The Little Mermaid.” “This trip to the Magic Kingdom is a wonderful opportunity to introduce children to the world of classical music, and experience the excitement of live orchestra,” said Shacklett, “Every year we strive to provide a special program that will appeal to families with children of all ages, and this promises to be a concert that will be remembered for a long time!”

The Magical Music of Disney will be presented on Saturday, January 10 (snow date: January 11) at Mount Saint Mary College’s Aquinas Hall, at 3 p.m. Arrive at 2 p.m. to hear Gordon Shacklett’s fascinating concert preview!
